Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 28/08/2026

These terms apply to any work carried out by Gate Engineers, whether booked through this website, by phone, or by email. By asking us to carry out work, you agree to these terms.

Company name: Gate Engineers Ltd

1. Quotes and pricing

Prices given over the phone or through this website before we have seen your gate or barrier in person are estimates, based on the information you provide. A firm price will always be confirmed once we have carried out a diagnostic assessment on site, and no chargeable work will begin without your agreement to that price.

Prices are valid for [30] days from the date given, unless we tell you otherwise.

2. Callout and diagnostic charges

Our callout and diagnostic charge covers the engineer attending your property and identifying the fault. This charge applies whether or not you decide to go ahead with a repair once the fault has been diagnosed, since it reflects the time and expertise involved in the visit itself.

Standard pricing applies during normal working hours. Callouts outside of these hours are charged at a premium rate, which will always be confirmed with you before the engineer attends.

3. Access to your property

You are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the gate, barrier or intercom system that needs work, including access to any electrical supply required. If our engineer cannot gain access at the agreed time through no fault of ours, a further callout charge may apply for a return visit.

4. Parts and materials

Where a repair or replacement requires a specific part, such as a motor, control board or intercom unit, we will tell you the cost of that part as part of your quote. Parts are sourced from what we consider to be reputable suppliers, and, where relevant, we will let you know the brand being used.

If a part needs to be ordered in, we will give you an honest estimate of how long this is likely to take, though delivery times from manufacturers and suppliers are outside our control.

5. Cancellations

If you booked work with us following an in-person visit or a visit you arranged for us to attend your home, and this was not something you initiated entirely online or by phone without any prior contact, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to begin work within that 14 day period, you agree that this right ends once the work is complete, and you may be liable to pay for any work carried out and any parts already ordered on your behalf up to the point of cancellation.

Outside of this legal cooling off period, we ask for as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange a booked appointment, so that we can offer the slot to another customer. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable cancellation fee if less than [24 hours’] notice is given for a booked appointment.

6. Payment

Payment is due on completion of the work, unless otherwise agreed in writing, for example on a commercial contract with a managing agent. We accept the payment methods listed on our website or agreed with you directly. Late payment on invoiced accounts may be subject to statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, where applicable.

7. Guarantee on our work

We stand behind the work we carry out. Repairs are guaranteed for [insert period, e.g. 90 days] from the date of completion, covering the specific fault we repaired. This guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, further mechanical wear unrelated to the original fault, accidental damage, or work carried out or interfered with by anyone other than Gate Engineers following our visit.

Parts we fit are covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty in addition to our guarantee on the work itself. Details of the manufacturer’s warranty period will be provided where relevant to your specific job.

This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which requires that services are carried out with reasonable care and skill.

8. Liability

We carry public liability insurance covering [insert amount once confirmed] for our work. We will take reasonable care when working at your property, including protecting surrounding surfaces and landscaping where practical.

We are not liable for pre-existing faults, damage or wear that our engineer did not cause and could not reasonably have been expected to identify before beginning work, nor for issues arising from a gate, barrier or intercom system that was not installed or previously maintained to a reasonable standard by others.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.

9. Safety surveys and reports

Where we carry out a gate or barrier safety survey, the resulting report reflects the condition of the gate or barrier at the time of inspection only. It does not constitute a guarantee against future faults, and responsibility for acting on any recommendations in the report rests with the property owner or managing agent, in line with their own legal obligations.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can put things right. We aim to respond to all complaints within [insert number] working days.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you book work with us will apply to that booking. The date at the top of this page shows when these terms were last updated.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
